After the assessment, the insurance company provides an estimate for repairs or replacement costs, taking into account any deductible that the homeowner is responsible for. In cases where the policy includes recoverable depreciation, the initial payout may not cover the full cost of repairs upfront. Instead, the homeowner receives a partial payment, with the recoverable depreciation withheld.
Upon completion of the repairs or replacement, the homeowner submits receipts or invoices to the insurance company to prove expenses incurred(certificate of completion). Once verified, the insurance company releases the recoverable depreciation amount, reimbursing the homeowner for the remaining costs, thus completing the claim settlement process.
